Latest lab notes from David Kennedy

Hi Everyone,

Here is the latest edition of my weekly lab notes. Feel free to forward this along to friends.

Project Highlight

This week I launched a landing page for Atom Logs, my service logs platform for projects. It was launched using:

  • NextJS / Typescript / Tailwind CSS

  • Hosted on Vercel (Super easy to go from thought to live)

I’m looking forward to building out all the functionality, and help those looking for light, extensible logs for their projects. The focus of Atom Logs will be business level logging, instead of error or system logs we use as developers. A good example of this would be a user signup event.

I’m also thinking of creating a notion page where people can follow along with my progress as I build out features. Is this something you would be interested in? Let me know!

*Bonus: I also deployed my initial landing page dpklabs.com as my personal site. The initial page is going to be more like a Linktree page, with more functionality coming it’s way.

YouTube Video of the Week

I was recommended a video in YouTube this week from Nicholas Crown who I original know from his tick tock videos. He was interviewing Noah Kagan, an entrepreneur and founder of App Sumo.

A couple key takeaways from me where:

  • There is no golden map. The concept of there is not set path to life or success, but you have to be curious and willing to try many things to continue moving.

  • Always be iterating. As we move throughout life, be curious, try new things, but most importantly try to learn from what you are doing. Many times this is correlated to learning from your failures, but isn’t the golden rule. Life is an iterative process from trying and learning. Make sure to build the feedback loop into what you are doing.

There were a bunch of great nuggets of information and insight from this interview and I highly recommend you check it out. Great job by Nick who is continuing to make strides in is content creation journey.

Quote I’m Pondering

Action is the foundational key to all success.

Pablo Picasso [From: Reinvent Yourself - James Altucher]

As I attempt to be consistent with the newsletter, I was reviewing my notes/highlights from books I am reading. This one stood out this week because I took action on many things this week. And reminded myself success is taking action, not thinking about action on the side lines. Which is why I pushed the landing page and website live this week, even in a rough, not optimized state.

Margin Notes

  • SpaceX launched Starship this week! I was really hoping for separation, but it was a success none the less. Did you watch the launch?

  • Interesting hot takes by Rich Harris the creator of Svelte, definitely worth a watch. I am going to rewatch again.

    • LucyLang was a great find from the video as a side note

  • Pushed UI updates to Blokfeed. My crypto news aggregation website.
